Halloween Craft - Hungry Halloween Bags

HUNGRY HALLOWEEN THEMED CANDY FILLED PARTY FAVORS

Be-witched Buffet themed box
Over the past few years my husband and I have hosted themed Halloween parties and three of our most popular party themes are featured in Hungry Halloween.  Each of the themes is the focus of an entire chapter in the book and I show you how do decorate your house and create food to fit the theme. I tend to use a lot of store bought items for my parties because although I am very creative, I am not a great artist. I can draw well enough

if I have an image to work from, but I don't have the talent to just create an original work of art. I tend to use a graphics program filled with free clip art to design my party goods, but when I needed some original artwork for my book, I was fortunate enough to have Katya (my Russian daughter/exchange student) create unique drawings for my book. She captured the essence of each party theme so well that I wanted to create party goods featuring this fun artwork that you can use for your own

parties.  Over the next few posts I'll give you templates for some different items that you can copy and use for your own personal use.  *Please note that Katya's original artwork is copyrighted and you need permission to re-distribute it or use it for anything you will sell. So please don't post these templates to another website or blog without my permission.*

For the first project, I've created simple candy bags that you can print out onto matte or glossy card stock and cut and fold yourself.  You can make these to give out at your party, or if you have older kids who can use scissors, you can have them create their own bags during your party.

Click on these links to find full size printable templates for each of the three themed bags.

Instructions:
Print out and cut out template.
Print out the desired templates. Cut out template including the white tabs that are marked with dotted lines. Use an e-xacto knife to cut out the white section of the handles.
Fold the box along all of the fold lines. To see fold lines click this link. Fold Line Template I lay a ruler along the fold lines and fold over the ruler.  You can also use the edge of a table or counter.  Just lay the box over the edge of the counter and make your folds.
Glue the tabs and press together to seal.  I also add a small amount of tape along the tabs on the inside of the bag.  This insures the bag will stay together once the candy is added.
Close the bottom of the bag. Re-enforce the bottom of the bag by adding some tape inside along the tabs. Fill with an assortment of Halloween candies or homemade candies.
